Music and Art
How do I experience music in my daily life? There are many different ways, but I would have to say that one of my favorite ways of experiencing music is in the car. When I'm in the car it is a chance to escape from the craziness of life, and to totally focus on my music. It's the only time when I can totally focus on music, and I love how the sound completely surrounds you in the car. The car and radio also present an opportunity to completely experience new music. I think one big way that music is experienced in the larger culture is through television and movies. Music can be used as the background in shows and movies to set the tone, or even to evoke an emotion without using words from the characters. I think in this way music can become part of the art of entertainment in television and movies, enhancing the effect of that art. Music most traditionally has a place as art in musicals, operas, and symphonies. Although I'm not really a fan of any of those performances, I do like to experience the performance art part of music through live shows. Going to a concert, or even just listening to a friend play an instrument, totally changes the way the music is experienced. The quality of a live performance can show the raw talent that can be lost in the over use of technology that goes into most music now. Seeing the musician at work, putting themselves out there for an audience and putting on a show, brings to life the music and demonstrates the work that creates the art of music.

I agree with you on the experiencing of music in the car. When you are enclosed like that there is no loss of music anywhere and it can just engulf you. I personally am not a fan of concerts because sometimes the artist is horrible live and it turns me off of the songs they destroy.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those people that also enjoys music when i am in the car. Although i rarely do, it helps to south you, and i believe you can really listen to the music as you drive. As for concerts, in PCB they have many on the beach, and i feel as if the biggest difference between music live or recorded is the energy that is coming from the artist and the crowd. This is why i like live shows.
